A poli-D-lisina (PDL) e a poli-L-lisina (PLL) são moléculas sintéticas que são usadas para melhorar a aderência de distintos tipos de células às superfícies de poliestireno. A eficácia do cultivo de linhas celulares individuais pode ser melhorada, especialmente quando se utiliza um meio isento de soro ou com um teor de soro reduzido, ou quando se realizam experiências tais como transfecções. Dado que a PDL é sintética, está isenta de impurezas transportadas por outras proteínas.

As the PDL is synthetic it is free of the impurities carried by other proteins.

Numerous ligands can be biotinylated simply and reliably, and due to the low molecular weight of biotin (244 Da), the functionality of the molecules is normally not impaired. Thus streptavidin-coated solid phases make it possible to simply and rapidly isolate, determine and quantify components from a reaction mixture. By immobilising the biotinylated substance, it is also possible to reproduce complete reaction chains on a streptavidin solid phase, for example, enzyme immunoassays, enzyme activity assays, DNA hybridisation techniques, quantification of PCR products, and receptor/ligand studies.
