Descrição: Recognizes a protein of 80 kDa-90 kDa, identified as CD36. It is expressed on platelets, monocytes and macrophages, microvascular endothelial cells, erythrocyte precursors, mammary epithelial cells, and some macrophage derived dendritic cells. CD36 acts as a receptor for thrombospondin (TSP), collagen types I, IV and V, P. falciparum malaria-infected erythrocytes, and sickle erythrocytes. It also functions as a scavenger receptor, mediating macrophage uptake of oxidized low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and recognition of apoptotic polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMN). CD36 plays a role in platelet aggregation, macrophage foam cell development, inflammation, and the tissue ischemia observed in sickle cell disease and cerebral malaria. Note that 1-4% of Japanese and East Asia population lack CD36.

Descrição: Ubiquitin-Conjugating Enzyme E2 K (UBE2K) belongs to the E2 Ubiquitin-Conjugating Enzyme family. UBE2K is highly expressed in the brain, with highest levels found in cortex and striatum, and at lower levels in cerebellum and brainstem. UBE2K may mediate foam cell formation by the suppression of apoptosis of lipid-bearing macrophages through ubiquitination and subsequence degradation of p53/TP53. UBE2K is associated with the selective degradation of short-lived and abnormal proteins, such as the endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation (ERAD) of misfolded lumenal proteins. In addition, UBE2K is involved in Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease and antigen processing through its interaction with huntingtin, and MHC-heavy chain proteins.

Descrição: Made with a soft vinyl skin over a core of stitchable foam to provide a lifelike suturing experience for students or a realistic suturing demonstration by an instructor. Realistic skin texture with wrinkles and pores. Soft and pliable for easy sewing, the skin is tough enough that sutures will not pull out when tightened. Each unit provides three 'wounds'. These 'wounds' can be sutured repeatedly until the skin around them is finally worn out; then, new 'wounds' can be cut. Although disposable, the trainers provides hundreds of suturing experiences before wearing out. Conservatively, over one hundred cuts can be made on the trainer and each of these cuts can be sutured several times.

Descrição: Recognizes a protein of 80 kDa-90 kDa, identified as CD36 (Workshop IV; Code P-26). Its epitope maps between aa155-183. Note that 1-4% of Japanese and East Asia population lack CD36. This MAb blocks adhesion of P. falciparum parasitized red blood cells to CD36 and strongly inhibits collagen-induced platelet aggregation.

Descrição: Accepts ubiquitin from the E1 complex and catalyzes its covalent attachment to other proteins. In vitro, in the presence or in the absence of BRCA1-BARD1 E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complex, catalyzes the synthesis of 'Lys-48'-linked polyubiquitin chains. Does not transfer ubiquitin directly to but elongates monoubiquitinated substrate protein. Mediates the selective degradation of short-lived and abnormal proteins, such as the endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation (ERAD) of misfolded lumenal proteins. Ubiquitinates huntingtin. May mediate foam cell formation by the suppression of apoptosis of lipid-bearing macrophages through ubiquitination and subsequence degradation of p53/TP53. Proposed to be involved in ubiquitination and proteolytic processing of NF-kappa-B; in vitro supports ubiquitination of NFKB1. In case of infection by cytomegaloviruses may be involved in the US11-dependent degradation of MHC class I heavy chains following their export from the ER to the cytosol. In case of viral infections may be involved in the HPV E7 protein-dependent degradation of RB1.

Descrição: Salusins are multifunctional bioactive peptides discovered by bioinformatics analyses of a full-length cDNA library. Salusin alpha and salusin beta are related peptides of 28 and 20 amino acids that were recently characterized. These peptides are considered to be biosynthesized from preprosalusin, an alternative-splicing product of the torsion dystonia-related gene (TOR2A), after frameshift reading and digestion at dibasic amino acids. Salusin alpha has recently been shown to be involved in atherosclerosis; it potently suppresses acyl-CoA:cholesterol acyltransferase-1 which stores cholesterol ester converted from free cholesterol in macrophages, thereby reducing human macrophage foam cell formation.
