Descrição: Hemagglutinin Monoclonal Antibody: Influenza A virus is a major public health threat, killing more than 30,000 people per year in the USA. Novel influenza virus strains caused by genetic drift and viral recombination emerge periodically to which humans have little or no immunity, resulting in devastating pandemics. Influenza A can exist in a variety of animals; however it is in birds that all subtypes can be found. These subtypes are classified based on the combination of the virus coat glycoproteins hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA) subtypes. During 1997, an H5N1 avian influenza virus was determined to be the cause of death in 6 of 18 infected patients in Hong Kong. The more recent virulent strain of H5N1 is now seen in Africa and Europe, as well as in southeast Asia. There is some evidence of human to human spread of this virus, but it is thought that the transmission efficiency was fairly low. HA interacts with cell surface proteins containing oligosaccharides with terminal sialyl residues. Virus isolated from a human infected with the H5N1 strain in 1997 could bind to oligosaccharides from human as well as avian sources, indicating its species-jumping ability. While efforts were made to use relatively conserved regions of the viral sequence as the antigen, the influenza virus genome has drifted somewhat from what was first reported. However, this antibody was able to recognize peptides derrived from viruses from Indonesian human patients infected in 2007.

Descrição: CLDN1 Antibody: Claudin1 (CLDN1), a member of the claudin family, is an integral membrane protein and a component of tight junction strands. Tight junctions are specialized regions of cell to cell contact consisting of networking strands that act as a molecular gasket for preventing the leakage of ions, water, etc., between cells. They are abundant in luminal epithelial sheets where they maintain epithelial cell polarity. Different tissues exhibit different Claudin composition and CLDN1 expression is often cell type and tissue dependent. Loss of function mutations result in neonatal ichthyosis-sclerosing cholangitis syndrome. CLDN1 and CLDN2 were found to be overexpressed in colonal cancer tissues and may be useful as tumor markers and targets for the treatment of colorectal cancer. Characterization of Claudins expression in human tumors can be an additional diagnostic tool. Recent studies show that CLDN1 has gastric tumor suppressive activity and is a direct transcriptional target of RUNX3. Along with SCARB1, LDL-R, and the tetraspanin superfamily member CD81, CLDN1 has been reported to be an entry factor for the Hepatitis C virus.

Descrição: Peripherin is a ~57 kDa intermediate filament subunit found initially in sensory neurons of the peripheral nervous systems, which gives the protein its name. Subsequently, peripherin was found in some sensory and other neurons of the central nervous system and also in PC12 cells. Peripherin is also expressed in certain neuroendocrine tumors and in the insulin producing cells of the pancreas. Peripherin belongs to the Class III family of intermediate filament subunits which also includes vimentin, glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and desmin. In contrast to the neurofilaments, peripherin is strongly up-regulated after nerve injury. Antibodies to peripherin can be used in identifying, classifying, and studying neurons throughout the nervous system. Peripherin is also a good diagnostic marker for ballooned axons seen in Lou Gehrig's disease (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) and some neuronally derived tumors. Autoantibodies to peripherin are frequently seen in the sera of patients with diabetes. Peripherin is not related to peripherin/RDS, a protein of the photoreceptor outer membrane mutations of which are causative of certain forms of slow retinal degeneration.
