Descrição: The RING-type zinc finger motif is present in a number of viral and eukaryotic proteins and is made of a conserved cysteine-rich domain that is able to bind two zinc atoms. Proteins that contain this conserved domain are generally involved in the ubiquitination pathway of protein degradation. MARCH8 (membrane-associated ring finger (C3HC4) 8), also known as MIR or RNF178 (RING finger protein 178), is a 291 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein that localizes to vesicle membranes and contains one RING-CH-type zinc finger. Expressed in a variety of tissues, including immature dendritic cells, MARCH8 functions as an E3 ubiquitin ligase that is thought to regulate immune responses by promoting the ubiquitination and subsequent degradation of target proteins, such as B7-2 and CD71.

RNF146 (RING finger protein 146), also known as Dactylidin, is a 359 amino acid protein that contains one RING-type zinc finger and one WWE domain. Via its RING-type zinc finger, RNF146 may play a role in transcriptional regulation and protein degradation events. Defects in the gene encoding RNF146 are associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and may lead to a higher risk of breast cancer. Two isoforms of RNF146 exist due to alternative splicing events.

Descrição: The RING finger motif is a specialized DNA-binding zinc finger domain found in many transcriptional regulatory proteins. The ring finger protein (RNF) family includes any protein containing the signature RING finger motif. RNF186 (RING finger protein 186) is a 227 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein containing one RING-type zinc finger. The gene encoding RNF186 maps to human chromosome 1p36.13. Chromosome 1 is the largest human chromosome spanning about 260 million base pairs and making up 8% of the human genome. There are about 3,000 genes on chromosome 1, and considering the great number of genes there are also a large number of diseases associated with chromosome 1. Notably, the rare aging disease Hutchinson-Gilford progeria is associated with the LMNA gene which encodes lamin A. The MUTYH gene is located on chromosome 1 and is partially responsible for familial adenomatous polyposis. Stickler syndrome, Parkinsons, Gaucher disease and Usher syndrome are also associated with chromosome 1.

Descrição: Tripartite motif-containing protein 3 (TRIM3), also known as RING finger protein 22 (RNF22), RING finger protein 97 (RNF97) or brain-expressed RING finger protein (BERP), is a 744 amino acid member of the TRIM family, also known as the RING-B-box coiled-coil (RBCC) family. Members of the RBCC family have an N-terminal RING finger, followed by one or two zinc-binding domains (B-box domains), a leucine coiled-coil region and a variable C-terminal domain. Localized to cytoplasmic filaments, TRIM3 has been shown to interact with å-actinin-4 and myosin V, two proteins associated with the actin cytoskeleton. Specifically, å-actinin-4 interacts with the RBCC domain of TRIM3, and the C-terminal tail of Myosin V interacts with with the unique C-terminal ∫-propeller domain of TRIM3. These associations suggest that TRIM3 may play a role in cell motility and cargo transport. Three named isoforms of TRIM3 exist as a result of alternative splicing events.

Descrição: The RING finger family of proteins possess ubiquitin ligase activity and play pivotal roles in protein degradation and receptor-mediated endocytosis. The autoubiquitination activity of ZNF364 indicates that it is a novel RING-type E3 ligase. Its effects on cell growth indicate that ZNF364 may be important for the ubiquitin modification of proteins crucial to breast carcinogenesis and growth.
